Blue Scars №1 – Norway Framing Options:Wooden Floater Frame: BlackArtwork Information A series photographs documenting abstract ice and glacier landscapes in Iceland and Fjord Norway. In addition to the exciting and multi faceted textures, I was particularly fascinated by the intense turquoise blue of the glacier ice and the meltwater lakes, which is also reflected in the crevasses that seem to literally glow. Crevasses occur when the flow of ice is disturbed. The common reasons for this are different slopes of the

crystalline structure

with colors from deep blues and greens to brilliant whites

the frozen surfaces and flowing patterns highlight the transition between seasons in a geothermal region

These formations emerge from the interaction of flowing water

and familiar forms begin to shift in appearance

creating cracks along the surface

these landscapes offer a glimpse into the geological memory of one of Earth’s youngest and most active regions

creating unique patterns and colors

large masses of ice break away and drift into the proglacial lagoon directly in front of it

capturing the intricate textures and organic patterns of decaying leaves

As the water flows beneath the ice

and low sun create an interplay of menace and fascination
