The firm of Joseph Angell & Son was formed around 1811 by Joseph Angell in Clerkenwell, London and went on to become one of the most important and largest silversmiths and jewellery makers in the mid 19th century. This set comprises of two large handblown glass decanters with sterling silver screw top rims and substantial silver

The baize to the base is absent

The sense of scale and use of colour in this work is quite remarkable

In 1992 he was invited to paint and exhibit at Glyndebourne for the Festival Opera Season from his studio at Stowupland

The coffer is of early pegged construction and boasts carving to the front panels and borders
