Sterling Silver & Faux Tortoiseshell Comb by Adie Brothers, Birmingham, 1948 SOLDA sterling silver and faux tortoiseshell comb, fully hallmarked for Adie Brothers, Birmingham, 1948. A charming mid-Victorian oak writing desk with a tooled maroon leather inset above a single frieze drawer with glass handles and key

The support struts to the base of one chair appear to have been repaired at some point (please see photographs)

The interior shows some marking commensurate with age

William Ehrhardt had works in both Birmingham and Hatton Garden

The gilt frame shows wear but arguably adds character to the painting giving the appearance of a window frame through which one is viewing the scene

The locket is double sided and boasts an engraving of a bouquet of flowers to one side

There are some thin lines of paint losses to the work (please see photographs) but it nonetheless remains attractive and characterful
