Contemporary Pysanky: Hemp and Cherry Blossoms LeatherThis decoration on this emu egg was inspired by traditional Japanese chyogami paper patterns. Rather than employing the use of dyes, the colours present in this piece are revealed by acid etching the shell to various depths. The cherry blossoms show the colour layer before the innermost white layer of the shell, and the deepest etch.
